I’ve been 38 years old for almost a month – November 9th. It’s hard for me to fathom. I was 18 one second then, all of the sudden, I looked up and I was in my mid-30s! I’m sure that’s how it goes for most people, the time just gets away from you. But I’m not too broken up about it. I think 40 is going to be a great adventure, don’t you?
Speaking of adventures – to celebrate my birthday, I had one of my own in St. Joseph, Missouri! First, I have to highlight the fantastic birthday present my sis gave me – Besame‘s 1940s cream mascara and some of their gorgeous, golden brushes – does she know me, or what?
As a general rule, I don’t love to spend money. Not even on my own birthday, for some reason, so I wanted to find a cheap-ish way to have a good time and I did it! My darlings, you’re about to find out how boring I really am.
For starters, the most expensive place was Starbucks with my sister for cocoa and an insanely expensive rose gold tumbler I just had to have:
Yes, I am incredibly easy to bait with Starbucks tumblrs and mugs. I have a collection of them. I’m not proud of it.
Next up, the main event – a visit to the Walter Cronkite Memorial! A free walk-through museum at the college with a video center, an amazing tribute to Cronkite’s covering of the moon landing and a recreation of Cronkite’s CBS News room, complete with desk and camera.
Did I mention the camera takes photos? I look very distinguished, I think.
Did I mention the airplane?
We had such a good time, there. Can’t wait to go back, soon!
Afterward, we headed over to Panera Bread (my favorite) for a hefty dose of Pick 2:
Not super exciting for the average girl, I realize, but I’ve never been much of a party girl. I loved every second of my vintage, educational birthday!
How do you spend your birthdays?

December 18, 2017Happy Belated Birthday! As a gal who just turned 40 this year, I can say that it is 100% a great age (so far). Your birthday looked marvelous and the Walter Cronkite museum looks super cool! I love stuff like that.
thanks for sharing your b-day adventures 🙂
